Christian Cruz

Christian Cruz is a cultural producer and a performing artist based in Mexico City (D.F.), Mexico. She works for Centro de Cultura Digital Radio curating an international live radio program called Foráneo, which highlights artists working within digital mediums. In her spare time, she freelance writes, acts, sings, dances, documents, teaches and is an all around performance art geek. She is currently working on performances that explore the relationship between movement and poetry. Born and raised in Dallas, Tejas, underwater, in a bathtub, she works within the sub-culture, DIY, and ephemeral. She reps queer femmes & xicanxs whenever possible.

As a member of the international poetry collective, K(no)w Army, Christian Cruz has hosted and organized monthly open mics in Chicago, IL. As an associate curator to Defibrillator Performance Art Gallery in Chicago, she holds a strong focus on producing empheral works such as performance art, graffiti, sound art, installations, and anything time-based. She began teaching performance poetry at Yollocalli Arts Reach (Chicago) in 2011 until 2013. In 2012, she held a residency at the National Museum of Mexican Art (Chicago) for Poetry & Spoken Word. She has participated as a poet and coach in Louder Than a Bomb Poetry Festival, the world’s largest youth poetry slam festival from 2011‐2013. She has most recently performed in Chicago at Brave New Art World, Out of Site Chicago, Wicker Park Arts Fest, Young Chicago Authors, and Artifical Ear at Mana Contemporary. She has performed internationally and in collaboration with Manuel Vason for Rapid Pulse International Performance Art Festival, with Anabelle Pareja Robinson in El Museo de Chopo (Mexico City), and with ROOMS in Dimanche Rouge Experimental Performances (Helsinki)…among other collaborations.
